KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE
Your approach depends on who you are calling:
- Business owners – don’t waste their time – give them something of value
- Old People – speak slowly to get your point across
DEFINE YOUR LIST
Searching google for business listing and start calling is not effective. Narrow your list and target your audience. Age, gender, location, income and so on. It this way you will better understand how to approach your prospective customer because you will know more about them and their needs.
PREPARE YOUR SCRIPT OR QUESTION IN ADVANCE
Practice out by yourself or with family and friends. Roll play is a great game to gain confidence as a new cold caller.

IDENTIFY DECISION MAKERS IN ADVANCE
In business, find out the right person to speak with before you call. Receptionists will be more likely to put you through if you know the person’s name that you need to speak with. You can use LinkedIn or the company website.
